NZ’s Leigh Hart is one of my favourite comedians.
This clip from the excellent Moon TV series shows Leigh’s trademark style of deadpan, gormless delivery as he bounces epic inanities off straight man and accomplished author, Joe Bennett.
I prefer comedians who play completely farcical characters in a straight, almost dramatic style. Leigh nails this style in his largely pseudo-documentary work with clips like this and this. He also works with other great comics who play off his style in a perfectly complementary fashion – as in this clip where Leigh, Jason and Matai speak with NZ Prime Minister, John Key.
We’ve exported a few good comedy acts lately – from Flight of the Conchords to Rhys Darby – it’s surely only a matter of time before Leigh Hart gets more high profile work overseas!
At the time of writing there are 190 clips on Moon TV’s Youtube channel so check it out when you need a laugh!
I’m not usually a fan of parodies but I like this one xD. It helps if you’ve seen a certain series about people with strange powers.
The 4 short episodes are available through Youtube.
An oldie but a classic xD I’m long overdue for a post so I had to pull this one out of the hat. I haven’t seen it for a while and I wanted to keep all the comedy clips I like linked somewhere so up it goes! :)
It’s an oldie but I like it :). On Garfield Minus Garfield, the lazy orange cat is removed from all the Garfield strips and you’re left with an interesting and surprisingly readable depiction of Jon Arbuckle (to quote the site’s blurb) as “an isolated young everyman (who) fights a losing battle against loneliness”.
The Onion strikes again xD. Here’s an article about the new game “World of World of Warcraft” in which players can play as a person playing World of Warcraft xDDD.
I wish they had this when I was at school… instead of all those lovely bullrush games we used to play >_< (Thanks for the link CG!)
Not quite as unique or unheard of as the judges make out but Robert Muraine’s popping & locking is done extremely well and the dynamics of his routine keep the audience entertained :). An entertaining performance takes skill, drama and humour and he puts it all together nicely :).
An ad parody featuring the hilarious Keegan-Michael Key of MADtv. The “50 Greatest Commercial Parodies of all Time” post from nerve.com has the best blurb so I’ll just rip that off wholesale:
“The “ask your doctor if *blank* is right for you” genre has been sent up a thousand times, but a few stand out, this one for its initial realism and subsequent devolution into madness. The weird doctor-patient power dynamic hasn’t been made any more comfortable by the raft of TV ads encouraging us to ask about particular medicines, a fact that this parody nails perfectly. And there’s just something about those gardening gloves — are we wrong in thinking this wouldn’t work without them?”
(If you like that, here’s another hilarious skit featuring Keegan-Michael Key.)
In case you need to catch up on the storyline so far here’s a recap of the first 3 seasons… ;)
Gotta love The Onion xDDD. This clip from the Onion News Network mocks the ‘fickle nature’ of the Diebold electronic voting system. Had to post this cos me, Biscotti and Digg Doug were discussing the Diebold issues in passing just a few days ago xD.
Diebold PR Spokesman: “This country is based on the fantasy that the government is the voice of the people; going through the motions of voting and, uh, keeping the Kingmaker’s dealings secret is central to our culture.”
